01Overview
CMS LTD was engaged to design the primary and redundant electrical distribution for a new 40MW data center campus, coordinating power delivery from utility interconnection through to rack-level distribution across four data halls.
02Scope of work
The team designed 2N redundant switchgear and UPS topology, medium-voltage distribution to each data hall, standby generator paralleling, and grounding/bonding systems sized for the facility's fault-current profile. Electrical design was coordinated continuously with mechanical cooling loads in a shared BIM model.
03Approach
Given the utility's multi-year interconnection queue, CMS LTD phased the electrical design to allow partial energization of the first two data halls ahead of full campus completion — sequencing switchgear procurement and commissioning around the utility's connection milestones rather than a single fixed completion date.
